IMPORTANT STUFF
IGN: Bntyhntr
Character Name: Ersake
Race/Faction: Human (LEADER)
Age: 23-25
Characteristics: A normal human, but many comment on his bright laughing and sparkling eyes. His knowledge of what goes on between all the races in the lands of the new world is uncanny, and many come to him for advice from all races, regardless of their age or circumstances. Few know where this wisdom comes from however, or the things that he has experienced.
His role as leader is not what he really wanted however. He wants to go out and experience all the different cultures of the races, so he does! And is often away in the process. Many trust him, and all can be his friend, but he will not back away from a challenge, unless it needlessly harms his people.
Prologue
I've always said that people are the real monsters. Not the evil, Emergents who have infested our lands, or the people some people call Redstone infused freaks known as the Crimson Brotherhood, or even the Animus, the morphing anti-social. Those who are known as the ancients? Who some humans worship with all their might, deeming them creators and gods of this world? Even THEY aren’t the real monsters. The real monster lives within people. Humans. And yet every single one is special to me. Everybody is somebody in the light of my eyes. I can see the good in all of them. I can see their potential, what they might grow up to be. Through good times and bad. Nobody is past hope, to be saved, and come into the light. There is nothing special about any of us. We can’t lift things 1000 times our weight, morph, or warp space and time, but we can help and support one another. My story is but one of many of these stories. Demolishing the monster within myself, and my friends, as if I had the strength of 1000 men, or as if I could morph, to fight that which wakens within each of us. This is my story, as it very well could be yours as well.
Chapter 1
The majority of people can say they have experienced some sort of hardship in their life, right? Many of the people I know (in game) have lost their families, and had to take up arms and defend themselves against bandits, and the Emergents. All I can really say is that I've had it far worse than anybody, not to brag or anything. As this is a painful subject to me, I have decided to skip my childhood in this tale, and jump straight to when I was about 16. At that time, I left home, never to go back to it. (How cliché, eh?) But I was saddened, and depressed. With no money, or belonging besides the rags I called clothes, I wanted to cease my existence. Memories are always painful, whether they are happy, or sad. Unfortunately for me, they are completely and entirely sad. Traveling along on side roads begging for food became my life, and I pretty much thought that was what I would do until the day I died, but I was saved. As I wandered through my regular route, I found, yet another beggar, an older man, his ratty cloak covering his face.
“Alms, alms for the poor” he said, his head facing the ground, with a small mug and porous bag sitting next to him. I went over and sat next to him, placing all my bread crumb earnings for the day next to him. The old man looked in his bag, and slowly stood up over me.
“What is this, some kind of joke?” he said in a menacing voice. “I beg all day, and THIS is what you give me?!?”
“I’m sorry,” I stuttered, shocked at his rage. “It was all I had!”
“Well then, I’ll give YOU all I have” he snarled, and out of nowhere, slammed a wooden staff into my face. I didn’t even budge. All my life, I had been taught I was useless, and beaten until near death, and afterwards, told I deserved it! I simply sighed.
“People are all the same”, I thought to myself, but hell, if anybody is going to be beaten down for the sake and pleasure of others, why not me? I thought as the second staff blow slammed into my scrawny elbow.
“Yes, mankind will destroy itself one way or another, I just wish I wouldn’t be there to see it” I mumbled to myself, still sitting stone-faced on the ground. “People can’t change their destiny, and mine is to be at the bottom of the food chain, always”. I started to get up, but the staff slammed into my temple, so I fell back down.
“You had enough kid? It looks like I’ve finally found you” the man laughed, and I gasped.
“No….” I said…. “You people actually came back for me?”
“Well what do you think” he maliciously said, “we weren’t gonna let you get away that easily”.
I began to look at my options, but there was only one. Anything was better than hell, so I figured I would have to run. “Now look here, can’t we think about this rationally?” I asked.
“I am,” old man said. “There’s a HUGE price on your head, and I’m not about to lose my prey”. The old man slowly took off his coat, revealing the horror underneath.
That was when I bolted.
