This is the Mythos of the Miniarian Religion, of which Moogle is a devout follower.
I know its a lot of text, but please read it, I spent two hours writing it, and I would like to think that those two hours weren't wasted.
The Creation of the World
First Era (The Age of Creation)
In the beginning, there was only the Void. Vast and empty, it stretched on for eternity, harboring strange beings who called themselves gods. Two of these gods were Air and Water, and being young, and in love, they set out to create themselves a place to live. They called this place Minecraftia, and made it out of themselves. When they were done, it resembled a sphere of water with a covering of air.
They lived there, on this new world, for many years, joying in each other’s presence. However, from the Void a new god arose, who called himself Fire. Now Water was a fickle goddess, like the liquid she embodied, and quickly becoming bored of Air’s constant company, she began to long for another to keep her occupied. She and Fire began their relationship in secret, away from Air’s presence, and before long she begat Fire a child, called Obsidian. To this day, the presence of Fire and Water together will recreate their firstborn son. To keep him secret from Air, they hid him at the bottom of the Minecraftian Ocean, and Air’s eyes did not find out about him for many years. However, all good things must come to an end, and, while exploring his wife’s vast, expanding world, he discovered Obsidian down at the bottom of the Ocean. Furious, he commanded the son that Water had recently begat him, Bedrock, to seal off the bottom reaches of the ocean. He did so, and Air trapped Fire beneath Bedrock’s indestructible surface.
Fire, angry and mad with grief, set about creating a hell-world beneath the surface of the bedrock, and filled it with his essence. Meanwhile, Water was busy pleading with her son Obsidian to help her find a way back to Fire. Obsidian was strange among the gods at that time, for he had the capability to conjure his father’s essence at will, and upon his mother’s command, he used it to create a doorway to Fire’s realm, which we now call the Nether.
Water and Fire continued their secret meetings, this time in Fire’s realm. He was careful never to show his lover the hell he had created, and she knew nothing of his plans for revenge. During this time, Water had many children, some of them Fire’s, some of them Air’s. However, Air was content because he thought they were all his. To Fire, Water begat two sons, Iron and Coal, and two daughters, Stone and Gold. Stone was renowned throughout the ancient world for her ability to change her shape, becoming Cobblestone, and occasionally Mossy Cobblestone. Coal was also blessed with the ability to call his father’s essence to him. To Air, Water begat three sons, Dirt, Gravel and Clay, and one daughter, Sand. All the children knew of Fire’s continued visits with their mother, but they kept her secret at her behest, for they loved her far more than they loved their fathers.
Fire was also a capricious god, and after a while he tired of Water. Looking for a goddess who was not his own offspring, he settled upon Sand, and took her forcibly from the surface world with the assistance of Obsidian. He bore her down to his fiery land, and there she bore him a daughter, Glass, and a son, Sandstone. To this day, sand will create glass in the presence of fire. Now Fire found these first children ugly, and banished them to the surface, never to speak with them again. He then forced his new wife, Sand, to bear him more children, which she did. These were two sons, Netherrack and Soul Sand, and a daughter, Glowstone. Fire was pleased with these children, and they went out and formed the surface of Fire’s new world. Sand eventually escaped to return to the surface world, but this did not happen for many millennia. However, she was physically and mental weak from this experience, and this is why she can often be found supported by her son, Sandstone.
Meanwhile, on the surface, momentous things were occurring. Air had banished Fire’s children to the lowest parts of the world, just above bedrock. Some managed to stay near the surface, but Air would not let them been seen by his eyes. Now the children of Water had very close bonds, and angry at Air’s mistreatment of his bastard children, they revolted against their father, preventing him from ever coming closer to the surface than the place where his essence and Water’s met. This barrier formed clouds. Air was angry, and retaliated with storms and ice, but to no avail. He was stuck, like Fire. His children then allowed Fire’s children to come to the surface, and re-ordered the layers of Minecraftia to their own liking.
However, these actions took a toll on the children’s powers, and Obsidian found he was now unable to create the portal to his father. Desperate, he gathered together the eldest child of Air, Dirt, and the eldest daughter of Fire, Stone. When they refused to help him, he went to the second eldest children of each parent, Iron and Gravel. They agreed to help Obsidian, and he gave them the last of his powers to create fire. Now, only these three children are brought together will the portal be opened.
Second Era (The Age of Life)
Now, the absence of Air opened the door for new gods to enter the developing world from the Void. Jealous of Fire, he had been holding them back from entering the world, for fear of something similar happening again. Sun, Moon, and Academia rushed into the new world, and took for themselves spouses. Sun and Moon married each other, and Academia married Gold, the daughter of Fire and Water.
It soon came to the attention of the gods, however, that something was missing from their world. Academia and Gold gave Redstone unto the world, thinking she would be enough. When it was not, the Sun and Moon, who valued beauty and strength, gave the twin sisters Lapis Lazuli and Diamond to the world. Lapis soon took Iron as her husband, and Diamond took Obsidian to be hers. To this day, it is said that only Diamond has the ability to break her husband’s hard surface, for he will listen to none else.
However, something was still missing. Finally, Academia realized that the new planet was missing a population other than the immortal gods. He took the problem to his wife, and she agreed. Together they created Trees to cover and beautify the surface of Minecraftia. The other gods saw and liked this, and Lapis and her husband created Flowers and Mushrooms, Diamond and her husband created Reeds and Pumpkins, and Sand, working alone, created Cactus. It was Sun and Moon, however, who created the first animals, the Cows. Soon after they also gave Sheep, Chickens, Wolves and Pigs to the world as well.
The gods were content for a while, watching their new children bloom and grow, until Academia had an idea. He gave some of the pigs, his favorite animals, the knowledge of how to walk upright, and as they did so, they began to think for the first time. These were the first Pigmen. When the other gods saw this, however, they became jealous, and took a pigman away for modification. Lapis and Diamond changed its appearance, and Sun and Moon gave it the power to bend the earth to its will. They then placed it back on the planet, and it became the first Human. This is why pigmen live in harmony with the earth, while humans seek to use it.
Academia, being a mild-tempered god, was not angry with his fellows, and welcomed the humans to the growing world. He even taught them how to create basic tools in the fashion of the gods, and they used his knowledge to create homes and villages for themselves. They also taught this knowledge to the pigmen, and lived in harmony with them for many years.
Third Era (The Age of Heroes)
Meanwhile, Fire was plotting. After the escape of his wife, Sand, he decided it was time to make his revenge on the surface. With the unwitting help of Obsidian, he captured some pigmen, and made them into his first slaves, the Zombie Pigmen. He then used his knowledge of destruction to create the ultimate killing machine: the Ghast. He then, again with Obsidian’s unknowing assistance, used his powers to re-animate the dead of the humans, and created Zombies and Skeletons. He also used the dead of the pigmen and modified them to create the Ghast’s lesser cousin, the Creeper. He also placed the Spider in the world, although it was not yet the angry menace it would become.
On a day that would become infamous in history, Fire unleashed his wrath. Blasting forth from Obsidian’s portals, he unleashed lava, his liquid essence, onto the land, and called forth the Zombies, Skeletons, Creepers and Spiders he had made to fight the humans and pigmen while he dealt with the gods. He also created Monster Spawners to perpetuate his monsters’ presence in the world. Obsidian tried to close the portals he had made, but Fire proved too strong for his son, and held the portals open while he let his troops rush through. Finally, Water was forced to intervene to save her world. She poured herself over Fire’s volatile essence and eventually subdued him long enough to banish him back to his world. Furious, Fire decreed that Water was never again to enter his world, and to this day, she is unable to do so.
The gods, humans, and pigmen launched a counter-attack, pouring through the portals into the Nether. But there, in Fire’s realm, they were no match for the Zombie Pigmen and Ghasts he was keeping there as a defense. They were defeated easily, and fled back to the surface, where they stayed.
Fourth Era (The Age of Knowledge)
There was born a human, named Miniarus, whom Academia came to love as a son. He was inquisitive and thoughtful, both traits Academia valued highly. He decided, in light of the new threats posed by Fire’s remaining troops on the surface, that it was time to introduce more advanced technology to the world, and that Miniarus should be the one to do it. He gathered Iron, Coal, Gold, Diamond, Water, Redstone, and Stone, and took Miniarus, and together they taught him to use iron, gold and diamond in his tools, something no human had known before. He learned of minecarts and boats, of circuits and traps, and of rails and architecture. No human or pigman who had been honored by the gods in this way, and no human will be again.
After he was done teaching Miniarus, Academia bid Miniarus go out into the world to spread his knowledge, but Miniarus refused. During his stay in the home of the gods, he had grown arrogant, and was reluctant to share his knowledge with others. Enraged by his chosen’s disloyalty, Academia cursed him, saying that Miniarus would never again be able to create the tools and mechanisms he was shown, only to teach others how to use them and watch as they joyed in their newfound awareness. Even so, Miniarus did as he was bid, and spread his knowledge around the known world, and gained in fame and followers until he was viewed by most as a god in himself. Myths sprung up around him until he was obscured by them, and only his true disciples knew of his humble origins as a farmer.
Upon Miniarus’ death, Academia took pity on him, for he regretted his momentary anger against Miniarus, and with the assistance of Water, gave him the essence of immortality, and took him into the home of the gods, where he was wedded to Redstone, and his curse was lifted with Academia’s apologies.
Meanwhile, back on Minecraftia, Miniarus’ followers had immortalized their teacher, establishing the Miniarian Church, dedicated to Miniarus and Academia’s teachings. They spread out across the world, and continued his teachings. It is believed that the majority of scientists or philosophers alive today are the descendants of Miniarus or his followers.
Fifth Era (The Age of Mortals)
For the most of the Third and Fourth Ages, one continent was enough to hold the human and pigman races. However, with the onset of high technology, expansion was necessary. Humans began the construction of large ships, to carry explorers to faraway lands, as yet unknown. However, this construction was halted by cataclysm in the north. Darkness was spreading from beneath the ground, consuming all in its path. It had destroyed the majority of a northern kingdom and was continuing to spread. What it might be is as yet unknown. Horror stories from the north rallied the south to war, and using fire as an ally, they pushed back the darkness until they could push no more. They erected a defensive wall, set a watch over it, and gradually returned to their original lifestyle.
Construction on the ships also resumed slowly, and three years after the darkness was first spotted the first ship was finished. The ship was filled with intrepid passengers, some explorers, some fugitives, some simply looking for a new life. And, one year ago, this ship set sail for a New World, and a new life.
