Then go get WinTADS and find a version of the game compatible with that. That's what I did... and guess what? My dad had 20-year-old notes from when he played through the game.

Part I got stuck on was getting rid of the damn snake. I also got killed by those annoying dwarves once or twice. After that I went on and on until my lamp ran out of batteries. Then I was fucked. I never bothered playing it again, because I had a feeling I'd seen enough.

"first hint"? Not sure what you mean, but I did know where the vending machine for batteries was. I even mapped out that whole maze.
